What Florine Raitano dislikes about Jelly Cafe:
Sunday breakfast access before 9 am is convenient, with plenty of tables available. The online waitlist feature is a nice touch! However, the food was rather disappointing. The biscuit and gravy dish had a dry biscuit and lacked sufficient gravy to make up for it. The breakfast potatoes were tasty but could have used some salt and pepper. The breakfast burrito was underwhelming, stuffed with too many potatoes and not... View all feedback.

This restaurant is truly fantastic! The donut holes were delicious, especially when paired with a cocktail. The service was excellent too, with very friendly staff. I will definitely be returning in the future.

The breakfast burrito was underwhelming, stuffed with too many potatoes and not enough pulled pork and chorizo, resulting in a bland flavor. The little donuts were not what I expected; instead of being filled, the flavor was just spooned on top. At $5 for four donut holes, that was a letdown. I probably won't return. As for parking, finding a spot on the street during the weekend was nearly impossible, forcing me to park two blocks away.

While the costs of food, utilities, and rent have risen, you won’t see separate charges on your bill for tomatoes or electricity. Why is it that only staff wages are highlighted? Typically, these expenses are factored into the overall pricing. This special surcharge for workers is a sneaky method of raising prices without being upfront about it. If diners dislike hidden fees, restaurant owners hope that their compassion for the staff will mitigate these negative feelings. Conversely, if someone is unsympathetic, their frustration is misdirected toward the workers due to staffing shortages, rather than addressing the broader economic situation. Do restaurant employees deserve higher wages? Absolutely! But restaurants should absorb that cost in the same way they account for their kitchen supplies—by simply raising menu prices instead of singling out labor with additional charges. On a positive note, the staff at Jelly is fantastic. They clearly work hard, especially during busy times, and they handle everything remarkably well!
