Izu Sushi - Denver
Izu Sushi
Menu
The place from Denver offers 37 different dishes and drinks on the menu for an average price of $5.2.
Izu offers fresh, creatively presented sushi with a relaxed atmosphere and generally attentive service, making it a favored spot for many Denver locals. Highlights include specialty rolls like the Black Pepper Tuna and Jazz rolls, with fast dine-in and pick-up experiences often praised. However, some customers report inconsistent food quality, especially with delivery and certain appetizers, along with occasional service hiccups and pricing errors. While promotions like buy-one-get-one deals add value, issues like rushed waitstaff and delivery tipping pressures have been noted. Overall, Izu remains a popular sushi destination but may benefit from improved consistency and customer care.

If you're a sushi lover, be sure to check out the newly opened sushi restaurant on Colfax. The sushi rolls and sashimi are expertly prepared and presented beautifully. The fish is incredibly fresh, the rice is cooked to perfection, and the sauces are well-balanced. To your surprise, they even serve tender Madai here. Plus, don’t overlook the ramen—it might just become your new favorite dish! View all feedback.
What Johnny Huddle dislikes about Izu Sushi:
I really tried to give this place a fair chance, but several menu items were unavailable, the food quality was lacking, the glasses were dirty, and the staff didn’t seem to care about these issues. I definitely won’t be returning. The crab rangoons were mostly empty, the shrimp shumai had an unpleasant fishy taste, and the sashimi was thick and made with low-quality fish—everything was quite disappointing. In the end... In the end, we couldn’t even finish our meals because we were worried about getting sick. Overall, it was not a good experience.
We visited for lunch and found the service to be prompt and professional. We shared three of the specialty rolls, which were just the right amount for two people without making us feel overly full. The ingredients were very fresh, contributing to an excellent menu. Food: 5/5.
I just tried this restaurant for the first time, and I won’t be returning. I ordered three items. First, the Manhattan roll, which was supposed to contain tuna and salmon, but instead was filled only with imitation crab. I also ordered mussels that were rancid and completely inedible. They were so drenched in Sriracha that it burned my eyes, likely an attempt to mask their spoilage. Lastly, the wontons were also terrible—hard and stale, with most having no filling at all, and the few that did contained rock-hard bits of old cheese. I ended up throwing everything away. It was a complete waste of time and money. They served rotten food. Absolutely not!
This is an excellent place for a quick meal. The sushi is prepared fresh right in front of you, and the gyoza is crispy and incredibly tasty.
I visited this restaurant with four friends to celebrate a birthday, and while things started off well, the service quickly deteriorated. Only the guests who were seated first received water, let alone any other drinks. They offer beer, wine, and sake, but we weren't able to order any of them! The ambiance is lovely, though it is a bit too bright for my taste. When the food finally arrived, it was excellent—great presentation and flavor. It seems that ordering through DoorDash or another delivery service might be a faster option than dining in.
