Santorini's Greek Cuisine - DeLand

Hi! I usually place an order and pick it up. But today.......7 family members, the , and I, had a grrrreat lunch, sitting at the outside table of the restaurant. Our waiter MAX , was smart, friendly, and truly professional, as he took good care of our party of 9 (including thirsty Ellie the and listened to our many needs, and was quick to meet them!!! So today, our Santorini 's experience was MAXimized by this nice hard working young ‍. As a mother of adult children, it 's refreshing to know that many of them, are willing go the extra mile to provide excellence! Thanks MAX, and thanks to all the wonderful chefs, cooks and staff behind the scenes . You are much appreciated, and please know that the YUMMY authentic Greek food is too! This place is amazing the Food is great the place is clean as whistle and the staff is friendly and efficient. I hope they expand to bigger location and expand the hours a little but truly a culinary gem of Downtown Deland. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

I was really hungry for a gyro, and for once, Santorini’s was actually open and there was parking available. I ordered a gyro platter, thinking I would have enough left for later. The Avgolemento soup was very good, as was the Greek potato. That said, that’s where the delight ended. My gyro was mushy and it dawned on me that they hadn’t grilled it after cutting it off the spit, as virtually every other Greek restaurant I’ve ever been to has done. When I asked about it, they said that they’d never heard of such a thing. Well, virtually every restaurant in Chicago’s Greek Town does, as do all the Greek restaurants in Houston and even, gasp! Sanford, FL. Haven’t been to Santorini’s there, and now I won’t! They guessed they could do that, so back went my gyro meat, only to return charred to a virtual cinder. They only included one pita, rather than two, but it didn’t really matter since the gyro meat didn’t go into a take-out container (my dogs don’t eat charred meat either. I guess if I need a gyro,, it will mean a trip out of DeLand. Parking: While there is free street parking and a free lot, the lot near Santorini’s is uneven, poorly paved and the handicapped spot is on an angle that was hard for me to navigate. Because of that, I wasn’t able to offload my scooter, which meant that I needed to find street parking, but again, difficult without driving my scooter in traffic to the nearest corner since it does not climb the steps for most of the street parking. This day, I got lucky and found parking close enough to use my cane. DeLand, your parking for the disabled is atrocious at best! Wheelchair accessibility: There is none. I had to park my scooter outside, beyond their outdoor tables.

Amazing Greek food with a great lively atmosphere. There’s certainly a reason Santorinis is always packed with both locals and visitors alike! Highly recommend the Gyro, a classic that they’ve nailed! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
