Elixir - DEL MAR
Elixir
Description
Nestled near the picturesque beaches of Del Mar and Torrey Pines, Elixir has garnered mixed reviews from its patrons. While customers appreciate the friendly service and charming ambiance, many express disappointment in the inconsistency of their smoothie and juice offerings. Some have encountered thick, unblendable concoctions while others rave about the flavor of specific items like the blueberry Popeye smoothie. Issues also arise from inaccurate business hours and a lack of clarity around menu options, particularly regarding vegan selections. Despite these setbacks, some patrons remain hopeful for a return, drawn by nostalgic tastes and a warm staff atmosphere.

I had a good experience at Elixir in the past, but my visit today was disappointing. I asked the woman behind the counter about one of the baked goods, and she replied that they no longer offer any vegan options. She mentioned that the vegan food had not been successful and spoke somewhat negatively about it. I was confused as to why they still had a handwritten sign listing several vegan baked goods, and she informed me that those items were actually gluten-free and not vegan. I decided to leave. While I know that the juices are automatically vegan, I was put off from ordering one after my conversation with her. This is an update to my previous review from October 20, 2022.
The restaurant offers a wide variety of juices and smoothie options, all of which can be made vegan.
Cute spot to stop by if you're headed to Del Mar or Torrey Pines. We picked up 3 dragon smoothies after our beach walk and our kids slurped them down. The lady working there was super sweet and friendly. We will definitely be back.
"Yes, it's a bit expensive, but this is Del Mar after all. Without a doubt, the blueberry Popeye is my favorite smoothie of all time. If you pair it with their peanut butter cookie, you'll be amazed at how delicious gluten-free can actually taste!"
