Island Sushi - De Pere

Good sushi, great chefs here. I love spicy sushi and my chef Jason was more than happy to accommodate my tastes. Best times to come are week days 11:30-2pm. Expect a wait of an hour or more for dinner (4pm-10pm) and weekends, that's just the nature of the beast people, this place is popular for a reason.

I was new to sushi before eating here and I must say this sushi restaurant is amazing (and fun! The main floor is regular seating at tables and stands. We sat at the top of the boat area where there is a round seating area with 3 staff in the middle and the guests sit on the outside. The menu is to choose which roles you want to make the chefs along the wall in front of you. You can choose as many roles as you want as this place is all you can eat sushi. There are even roles for those who do not want to eat fish. You also have boats running around in a moat in front of you, each with a record of 1 or 2 pieces of sushi on them. The boats are colour-coded after the sushi. Red is spicy, blue is raw, green is veggie, and brown is cooked. You can take as many of them as you want. The staff was very nice. I've been back since the first time and I can't wait to return. So delicious!

We went to Iceland Sushi for my birthday. Is the midnight and was pretty slow so we could get a place right away. The staff was friendly and we enjoyed the atmosphere very much. When the sushi started coming, we started testing the options by doing what we wanted. Here is the only reason I give Island Sushi a 4-star rating. All we tried was okay. Nothing was bad, but nothing was great. The novelty of an all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant is fun and I'm sure we'll come back. Do not have your expectations too high and you will have a great experience.

The service at the bar and at our table was wonderful. The added piece that a local artist sings during our meal was a plus. We did everything you can eat at the table instead of the boats. The reason for the 4 stars is that the rice was not completely boiled. We had hard rice with every bite of our sushi rolls. We were before and the sushi was fantastic. We'll be back to give them another shot. Suppose it was just one night.

Phonomenol Food and great service. We will definitely come back. Love able to try things I would not normally order. There was nothing we tried that we didn't love.
