Surfing Elephant - De Haan

This restaurant was recommended to my by someone who had no idea I'm a vegetarian and I must say it was a great find at the Belgian coast, where my options seem to be limited to fries and (if I'm lucky) a penne al arabiata. This place has plenty of vegetarian and vegan options that are NOT boring. Like many other people I tried the seaweed croquettes and found them to be less sea-ish than I'd expected, more like a meat croquette (without the meat of course). Tasty certainly, but if you wanted a sea flavor you might be disappointed. My partner had a Mexican burger that I stole a bite from and that one was also tasty. I'd love to visit again to try more options.

The view is very nice you can sit on a sofa and look at the sea. We had vegan snacks and they were good but a little bit overpriced in my opinion.

The seaweed croquettes are great but way overpriced. Same goes for the expensive burger, which comes with some corn chips instead of a small salad or some fries. But you get the best view in Wenduine to go with your food...

Wat ik echt tof vind, is dat de opties met havermelk goedkoper zijn dan de reguliere opties! Het bord aanwezig in de inkomhal wijst op hun vegan gerechten én met de vermelding waarom vaker voor vegan kiezen belangrijk is.
