Not too busy on a Thursday night for two couples to share a booth. Excellent service, good pours on wine, appetizers entrees were very good. Always a great place in the Oregon District. Eats drinks tip around $100/ couple. View all feedback.
What Eleanore Hahn dislikes about Corner Kitchen:
we went to the restaurant week in the night of a Broadway show and were assured that we would arrive on time to show (reservation: 5:15, show: 7:30). as the night went on and the amount grew, service kitchen time suffered. we hardly managed to show and had to run our dessert. eating was 4 stars. friendly server. the television at the bar pulls off the ambiente of the place. Cold environment when they are near the doo... View all feedback.
On my list for recommendations when anyone comes to visit! I went with work colleagues for dinner and have 0 critiques. We ordered the Brussels sprouts, the deviled eggs, and the pierogis they were all gone quickly and everyone raved about them, the Brussels sprouts especially. For dinner, I ordered the special which was a pork chop with peach compote and walnut remoulade DELICIOUS! But HUGE. I took most of it home. Other colleagues ordered the salmon, the roasted chicken, the filet, the burger, and the steak frites. The portions definitely matched the price which was a pleasant surprise. Drink wise, we all ordered cocktails since they had an interesting selection. All in all No one had any negative things to say and really enjoyed our dinner. *someone that had been before did say that if you are used to southern grits anything, you would be disappointed to order those and the red pepper pasta wasn’t recommended*
Food ok, but no warning that no parking. 54 fine for parking across from restaurant. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Food: 3 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 3
There wasn 't anything inherently wrong with our meal at Corner Kitchen but it was just mediocre. Perhaps part of the reason is that we went early to try out the Happy Hour they were promoting and we were the only people in the restaurant. The decor looked more drab and like a diner than I expected. I assumed it would be more like the other hip, upscale restaurants in the Oregon District. We started with cocktails, an espresso martini and an old fashioned, that were very good...my husband commented that it was one of the best old fashions he 's had in a while. We then ordered 3 small plates from their Happy Hour menu to share. The shrimp and grits were tasty but only 2 shrimp, even for a small plate, seems skimpy. The charcuterie was some grilled bread, a very small amount of cheddar cheese and sliced salami, some jam, and pickled vegetables which were grated carrots and two slices of jalapeno in a condiment cup. The poutine was just odd. Instead of a beef gravy and cheese curds on top of fries, it was deconstructed: a bowl of gray mushroom gravy with a small pile of fries and fried cheese curds. Overall, it was a decent meal and the server was good, but I wouldn 't choose it above any of the other restaurants in the area.
The Stuffed French Toast was outstanding. Two large pieces of bread absolutely filled with marscapone. The peach burbon sauce was divine. The Crab Cakes I felt were very overpriced for what you get. First of all it only included 1 crab cake, and mine did not come with the chipotle remoulade so I cant be sure if that would have improved it, but for almost $20, you can get a full entree, not eorth the price in my opinion. But the overall taste of it was fine. Ive definitely had worse, but Ive also had better. The Short Rib Sandwich was tasty, but it had a lot go on for my taste. It was a lot of flavors and the buns got a bit soggy from everything on it. That said, the short rib was delicious and cooked just right. Also, the French fries were fantastic! Perfectly cooked, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. I would definitely order again, but ill be more choosy about starters next time.
Everything was Fabulous! I could just taste the care! Very happy with the food! Hummingbird Cake lemony not too sweet, beautiful berries... the whole package is unique in the best way possible! Steak Frites were well seasoned and I was very impressed the sauce didnt seperate. A sign of good Chefs! The radishes with the Adobe sauce on the Beef Chips just elevated it to a whole different level, bringing forward the flavor of the meat. I couldnt even find fault with the Deviled Eggs! They reminded me of my Grandmothers! I recommend to Anyone who likes food. The quality of the food is memorable. The only critque is the deviled eggs rolled over... still great tasting though. I thought of a 1 2 dozen egg carton or make one to carry the eggs. Thank you for some great Grub!
