Pollo Tipico - Davie
Pollo Tipico
Description
Nestled in the neighborhood, this family-run Dominican spot serves vibrant classics—mofongo, chicharrones, churrasco and pollo entero—alongside a lunch bar and bottled beer. The unpretentious, laid-back room offers ample seating and a busy to-go counter. Dishes are praised for bold flavor, but temperature and consistency vary; desserts and service can be uneven, and isolated cleanliness issues have been reported. A worthwhile choice for casual celebrations and authentic meals if you’re prepared for occasional lapses in service and quality.

This is a laid-back Dominican restaurant in the neighborhood, lacking in pretentiousness. Upon entering, you'll see the to-go counter and cash register directly in front of you, but there’s plenty of seating for those who prefer to eat in. I asked the server for a traditional Dominican meal, and she recommended the Carne Guisada de Res, or beef stew. While it's not always served hot in the Dominican Republic, the stew I had was lukewarm but still quite flavorful. I enjoyed it with a bottle of Dominican beer, Presidente. However, when I asked for a slice of lime for my beer, it was cut sideways instead of lengthwise, making it tricky to squeeze the juice into the bottle. Overall, it was a nice experience!
The service was excellent, the food was amazing and perfectly seasoned, and the atmosphere was wonderfully relaxing.
