What SiobhanEloise doesn't like about Connie's Tea Parlour:
I visited this restaurant on a busy Saturday. The location is lovely, but the prices are too high for the quality of food provided. Additionally, none of the cakes were labeled, so it was difficult to know what we were choosing. The staff seemed disorganized, crawling underneath the counter to move around. The service at this restaurant was excellent. The staff were all lovely and the atmosphere was spotlessly clean. The afternoon tea was delicious, but so generous that I couldn't finish it all. It was the perfect treat for my elderly parents on Father's Day. There was disabled parking available a short walk or push from the car to the tearooms. I booked my reservation on the same day via Facebook, and Sara, who runs the tearooms, was incredibly helpful. She deserves more business after the impact of Covid. We will definitely be returning for a sandwich and cake in the future.
I didn’t mention it to the staff (who were friendly and helpful) partly as I’m pregnant and couldn’t be bothered! £9 for a cream tea with an overheated dry scone, a teaspoon of jam/same of clotted cream, and a shop purchased egg custard. So that’s £3.05 for the egg custard if a cream tea is £5.95… Genius: same story in many places- stop people bringing in their own food so you can thoroughly rip them off on site. No menus suggesting what the ‘light lunches’ were. Few cakes with prices by them (otherwise I might have reconsidered)
I visited this restaurant on a busy Saturday. The location is lovely, but the prices are too high for the quality of food provided. Additionally, none of the cakes were labeled, so it was difficult to know what we were choosing. The staff seemed disorganized, crawling underneath the counter to move around. The coffee selection was limited to basic coffee with milk. While the cakes were okay, they were served on cardboard plates and priced at nearly £4 a slice, which felt excessive. Overall, the restaurant has the potential to be great, but it is not quite there yet.
We were disappointed to find that there were no sandwiches or other food items on display, and no menus or prices listed for the items in the glass display cases. When I asked about sandwiches, I was informed that they could make us a tuna and sweetcorn wrap, which we were not keen on. We settled for sausage rolls and I ordered a cream tea, which was advertised at £5.95. The sausage rolls were average, but lacked ketchup, which my daughter requested. They were also microwaved without asking if we wanted them hot or cold. I was not given a choice between a plain or fruit scone, and was served a plain scone that was also microwaved. I would have preferred a cold fruit scone. The milk for our drinks was located behind me on the counter, which made it inconvenient while carrying a hot pot of tea back and forth. There were no milk jugs provided on the tray with the tea pot. My husband found his coffee to be undrinkable and only drank half of it. As for the scone, it was disappointing and lacked the traditional scone consistency. Overall, we were very disappointed with our experience at the tea rooms and would not recommend it. It has the potential to be a charming spot, but our visit left us feeling unsatisfied.
Visited for the Easter event at Holdenby House today. Adults ready made lunch box was fine, childrens box wasn’t ready so needed to wait to be made, which was fine but no choice of filling because the server misplaced the ham. The cheese would have been fine however upon sitting on the lawn to eat our picnic I found the sandwich had no spread and was simply a slice of bread folded with some grated cheese. So when my 6 year old went to eat his sandwich all the grated cheese was at the bottom of the box, leaving just a couple of stale bits of unbutteted bread. No care or effort made, my son couldn’t eat so a waste of money. Very slow service too. Very frustrating and disappointing experience and waste of money. Photo of the inedible sandwich attached.
