The food and service were exceptional. The staff was friendly and professional, and they appreciated my preferences.
I had a nice lunch with my family for my mother's birthday. ele and her team were very attentive (a truffle finish with a happy birthday platter) and the most delicious, thoughtful menu. very delicious.
We revisited The Angel last night and feel the restaurant is now even better. There has been a redecoration and new soft furnishings to deaden the noise. Soft jazz music added to the atmosphere. There was a tasting menu or an a la carte menu to choose from. I had the cured salmon and turbot with butter sauce and finally cherry souffle. All were beautifully presented and perfectly cooked. However, the most positive thing was the way they dealt with my husband's garlic allergy. We get so used to him being told what he can't have and very few items left on the menu that he can! At the Angel Ellie came to speak to us and explained all items were possible just sometimes with a different sauce. So he had lamb as a main with an apricot sauce instead of the jus. It was beautifully cooked and the sauce went well with it. There was a great atmosphere with Ellie front of house looking after all her diners with care and a great sense of humour. We look forward to returning on our next visit.
Classic style cuisine. Quite a formal feel to the restaurant, sometimes service was a little stilted. Superb Turbot dish. Crab risotto was slightly overcooked. Nice amuse bouche. Price was high, not convinced the cooking was at that price point.
Nestled in the heart of Devon, this restaurant offers a memorable dining experience characterized by a delightful vegan tasting menu, expertly crafted dishes, and attentive service. Guests consistently praise the charming atmosphere enhanced by soft jazz and thoughtful decor, making it a great spot for special occasions. The front-of-house management shines with personalized interactions, ensuring dietary needs are met with a warm touch. While some dishes impress with their creativity and presentation, others fall short of expectations, raising questions about value. Overall, the restaurant stands out as a destination for those seeking a unique and enjoyable culinary journey.
