While some patrons praised the delightful soups and expertly crafted cocktails, complaints about meal inconsistencies—such as stale bread and cold dishes—simmered beneath surface praise. Many enjoyed the relaxed ambiance, particularly during special occasions, although service attention fluctuated notably. Highlights included enjoyable afternoon teas and excellent desserts, leaving a lingering urge to return. Overall, while Dial House shows promise with its attentive staff and appealing setting, consistency in food quality remains an area needing improvement to fully meet expectations.
The new owner has invested a significant amount of money in renovating this place and the food is consistently excellent.
This restaurant is always nice and clean, and they always make people feel welcome. It's a lovely place to eat, and my family really enjoyed it. I would highly recommend it.
We made an early reservation at the restaurant, which was nearly empty, but the service, though friendly, was slow. Since we were looking for a quick lunch, we ordered sandwiches - my friend chose the steak sandwich for £10, while I opted for the Club sandwich for £11. Both sandwiches were served on thick-cut sourdough bread that was difficult to cut and bite through. My Club sandwich was supposed to have chicken, egg, lettuce, and bacon according to the menu, but the egg was cold and scrambled, there was no bacon, and the lettuce was limp and uninspiring, resulting in a bland and unappetizing sandwich. My friend's sandwich was also disappointing, with cold steak and soggy sauerkraut. However, our saving grace was the delicious chips. Despite enjoying good meals during previous visits and liking the atmosphere of the restaurant, we were let down by the lackluster food this time.
This was my first visit to Dial House and I went for Sunday lunch. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. The Bounty bar dessert was absolutely amazing.
This restaurant is a delightful venue to dine at. It would be a good idea to request a table outside of the main dining area as it can get quite loud. The fish we ordered was cooked to perfection, the appetizers were delicious, and the dishes were well-balanced with subtle flavors and not over-seasoned.
