We?ve been here with a big group and it was a bad experience! The order got messed up, some were already done with eating after others just got their food, the music was way to loud and the food is quite expensive for a small portion! But the ?highlight?was that we had to pay for two ice teas that we never received! In addition they just gave us the bill while most of us werestill eating and we could only pay with four credit cards which obviously led to a huge mess while sitting at the table with 15people!! Not recommend!
Had dinner here last night and I was so disappointed. Ive been to the Bodega in Fairfield multiple times and love it. But the Darien one is completely different. We sat at the bar and ordered our drinks which were good. But when it came to food I toldbartender we were ready to order and he walked over to the computer 4 feet away and made me shout my order to him while he putit in. It was loud and I wasn't sure if he got my order correct, which it wasn't. I ordered guac with extra jalapeños and itcame out with no jalapeño (it even said on our receipt, no jalapeños). The guac was also bland, very flavorless. I alsoordered the tuna tostada for an app. We put in our whole order at once but stated we wanted to start with guac and the tuna.Everything came out at the same time. My shrimp burrito was luke warm and my boyfriend's carne asada was cold. We had to flagdown the bartender for silverware. Overall bad experience, would not recommend Bodega in Darien, go to the Fairfield one.
Food was OK, but the worst part was the surprise on the Bill! This restaurant without our knowledge or disclosure anywhere decides to charge its customers a ?Cocina fee? of 2.50%. Cocina is Spanish for Kitchen and they go on to describe at the bottomof the bill was this fee is for. Saying that it will be distributed to the kitchen staff, with a goal to end the wage imbalanceIn the food service industry. I found it shocking and strange that they would say this as it basically says they are alsocontributing to the imbalance and asking the customers to contribute to the kitchen staff pay. I can think of many ways theycan help their kitchen staff, including just giving them a raise to a competitive salary! What are your thoughts? I?m honestlyshocked at this restaurant and the action they have taken.
James is the best bartender in town. Thank you for always making Mike and I feel welcome. You have a fabulous vibe. So sweet and kind. JP and Chris you rock!! The whole Bodega staff is amazing. They are like family in there. Keep doing what your doing. Thefood is excellent. Thank you!
Bill 0/5!!! Look closely. What the heck is a Cocina Fee? Exactly, Cocina means kitchen in Spanish. Yes, when ordering dinner here, almost everyone orders in English, not Spanish. The owner instead of raising the salary of his kitchen staff decided tomake it your responsibility. Then the owner added this little note on the bill deciding that yes...you are responsible forhis/her staffs fair wage. On top of that, it is added without even letting you know until the end. Sneaky bad word, bad word. IfI could curse on this, I would. The manager said he would remove it, but that is not the point. They didn't let anyone knowbefore the bill and just tried to sneak it through. This is such a despicable practice. I will never eat here again. Hey owner,I know you have undocumented staff and are saving money paying people off the books, why don't you take that savings and paythem more. The gig is up. Slimy. Food 2/5, and I included photos. Look closely at the guacamole. It appears to be green butit looks like the cheap guacamole that you get at Shoprite in the container. They added some fresh ingredients like tomato andonion, but this is not a fresh avocado. Look closely at the chicken. This is cheap low quality pre grilled frozen chickenbreast. This is not fresh chicken. I didn't see a grill to even make grill marks when I walked by the kitchen, yet there weregrill marks on the chicken. That along with texture helped me conclude this is basically a step up from fake chicken. If I'mwrong, please respond to the low quality of the chicken. Interior 5/5 Service 4/5
