Having lived closely to KB, I don’t think people know how lucky they are to have this micro bakery in this neighborhood. Claire and Marc are personable, caring, and kind. You can LITERALLY taste the love they put into every single item that they make. Me and my fiancée’s go-to’s are the bagels, the chocolate croissants, cinnamon buns, and funfetti croissants. Lovely baked goods. They do a few things best in the city. By name bread, bagles, croissants, and morning buns.Carry on McDuff feel good about what you do.
The best pastries and breads available in Philly can be purchase here. The daily inventory tends to sell out in an hour or two, so arrive at opening hour.
Some of the best bagels and croissants I’ve ever had! My husband and I travel from NJ just to get these and stock up!! I would be here every week if I could!
We heard about The Kettle Black while talking to and older and well traveled gentleman in line for Her Place Supper Club. He loves baguettes, especially when in France, and he said the only bakery in town that gets baguettes right is The Kettle Black. So we had to go. And we weren't disappointed at all. This is one couple who churn out some of the best bagels, croissants, pretzels (cause Philly), and baguettes in town. Their kouign amann is top three baked item I've ever put in my mouth. If you're going to go, and suggest you go, please do your homework. They sell out just about every day they are open. So know their hours, get in line before they open, and be prepared for goodness.
The bagels are fantastic. They’re just the right size and they always have interesting flavors. The real hits are the croissants and pan au chocolat which are easily the best you’ll get in the city. Always get there early!
