Tacos are overpriced given the fact that it’s $5 per taco. Should absolutely at least have two tacos per. Other than that, the atmosphere is AMAZING. Roof can open or be closed, very high tech, and everything tastes so good! Wish I could give the atmosphere six stars instead of five. View all feedback.
What Eric Perkins doesn't like about El Techo:
If you ever want to impress someone with poor food, poor service but a great view, you should come here. The view of the city is fantastic but unfortunately that’s where the appeal stops. Tacos are some of the worst in the western hemisphere. Queso would make any Texan retreat back to the Alamo. I wouldn’t recommend this to a friend, but would recommend to my worst enemy. Fix this dumpster fire. View all feedback.
El Techo is a delightful Mexican culinary gem nestled in the heart of Philadelphia. From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted by a vibrant and inviting atmosphere that set the tone for a memorable dining experience.Starting with the appetizers, the guacamole was a standout. It was freshly made with perfectly ripe avocados, and the addition of diced tomatoes and cilantro added a burst of flavor. The accompanying warm tortilla chips were a great match. For the main course, I opted for the street tacos, and they did not disappoint. The carne asada taco was tender and flavorful, while the al pastor had just the right amount of spice. The tortillas were soft and slightly charred, adding a delightful texture to each bite.El Techo also offers an impressive drink menu. I tried their margarita, which was expertly crafted with a balanced blend of tequila, lime, and a touch of sweetness. It paired wonderfully with the savory dishes. The service was friendly and attentive throughout the meal, enhancing the overall experience. The rooftop seating option is perfect for those looking to dine al fresco and enjoy Philadelphia’s skyline. In conclusion, El Techo in Philadelphia offers an authentic taste of Mexico with its flavorful dishes, well-crafted drinks, and inviting ambiance. It’s a must-visit for anyone seeking a memorable Mexican dining experience in the city.
El Techo delicious food. Despite a slightly confusing menu, the quality of their dishes does not disappoint. The atmosphere creates an ambiance that enhances your dining experience. One notable aspect of El Techo is how fast the food arrived. Overall, El Techo’s tasty food and inviting ambiance, makes it a great choice.
Overpriced drinks. They lie about the price of drinks on the menu. Menu says $7 for sierra Nevada IPA but it's really $8.50. They did the same for a $7 Modelo draft (menu price), it was really $8.50. I don't know if this is a tactic for the bartenders to ger larger tips, if so that is dirty business. Also one of their bartenders took our orders but decided it was a good idea to have us wait 10 minutes and take additional orders from others before serving our orders first. We literally just ordered two cans of beer btw. Not like it was some fancy drink that takes time to make. Overall it's a nice atmosphere but their one bartender could use some serious training on how to work the room. And they need to stop lying about their prices. It's false advertising and misleading!!! Day I went was Tues, Aug 22 at around 5-8pm just in case the manager would like to know who was working that shift.
Drinks are pricey, but the view and ambiance are fantastic. You get a pretty great view of the parts of downtown Philadelphia. Nice on a sunny August Saturday afternoon.
Great Steak Tacos. Really solid cocktails. Easy ordering process, just scan your QR code and order from phone. Really great view of center city.
