Would I classify this as a traditional British fish and chip shop? Maybe but more Australian that British. The portions are good and the quality was also good. All except the gravy, wow was it poor. It didn’t help it was almost cold. I poured it over my really hot chips. I was shocked at how cold it was. I had to microwave it, but this didn’t help improve the flavour yuk. What Martin S doesn't like about Alexanders Traditional British Fish N Chips - Fish & Chips Shop:
If I could have given it a 0 star I would have. This would have to have been the worst fish and chips i have ever had. Spent $37 on 2 pieces of fish, a regular chips and 3 potato scallops. The fish, apparently haddock, was yellow, dry and completely without flavour. The chips were soggy and the scallops were wafer thin and the batter was just awful. Half the meal ended up in the bin. Mushy peas was good as was everything else that was purchased. If I was basing my rating on my food alone, I would give it average. But basing it on overall food it deserves a very good score. Prices were very reasonable as well.
Great chips and fish. Both freshly cooked when you order. Selection of British soft drinks. Come here regularly the owner is a gentleman.
The owners are very friendly and the fish and chips I had was plentiful and tasty. Nice to see an old style fish and chips shop surviving, they used to be everywhere when I was growing up in Sydney.

I felt like some hot ships (serves me right for not having breakfast! . So whilst in Dapto I glanced around to see if I could find a local fish n chip shop. There they were, directly across the road from my car. Stepping inside I had a wonderful surprise. It was British themed. And... they had a selection of British fish to choose from. Cod, Plaice, and more. Thursday night is Scottish night. I noted the battered haggis on the menu. I will need to come back on a Thursday night with the family to enjoy this wonderful cuisine.
