My mom comes here after doing her grocery shopping next door. They sell the best quality and most affordable egg tarts in the Peninsula! The egg custard is always on point and the crust is nice and flakey. On two separate occasions, I have called ahead to place bulk orders of egg tarts and they've been great about fulfilling my bulk orders. It's great that they open so early as I am able to grab them before work to s... View all feedback.
What Kalani S doesn't like about New Horizons Bakery:
I use to don't eat pastry or sweet desert. But this place caught my eyes and make me wonder into the store to check it out. 1 The smell of the fresh pastry's off of the oven is always make you want to try some. Which I did. Like it. Because it's tasty and not to sweet 2 The owner who serve me was very nice and professional. Love her energy and friendly conversation. note: don't like some of her customer. The customer... The sesame seed balls are quite thick and have a limited amount of sweet red bean paste, but the flavor is decent. The mango pudding is overly sweet, while the coconut pudding has just the right amount of sugar.
I used to visit this place all the time! I think I started going when I was in middle school? I would always order their hotdog buns or regular buns, and they were absolutely amazing! The atmosphere is lovely too! I haven't been in a while, but I really need to stop by again soon. I miss their hotdog buns!
I really appreciate that they wrap each bao separately. Additionally, their matcha egg tarts are absolutely delicious—not overly sweet, with just a touch of matcha flavor.
There aren't many places outside of San Francisco that offer the traditional baked goods I grew up with. This is the best spot on the peninsula for Chinese pastries, especially the egg tarts! Everything is consistently fresh, and the prices are quite reasonable!
While the baked bread itself was tasty, I can't justify paying those prices when the majority of the bun is just bread. I ended up having to add BBQ pork from another restaurant to actually finish the meal. I won't be coming back for the BBQ buns again, as I'm really disappointed. Hopefully, this was just a one-time issue, but I’m not willing to take the risk.
