I recently enjoyed a hearty American breakfast at M One Cafe Daan. The restaurant is conveniently located just a 2-minute walk from my hotel, but it is quite popular. I arrived early at 9am and was able to secure a seat without a reservation, although the staff did inform me that I would need to vacate the table by 11:30am. The cafe quickly filled up after I arrived, with a constant queue forming throughout my meal. I opted for the Bacon Cheese Avocado Omelette set, which was a pleasant surprise due to the generous portion and inclusion of avocado within the omelette. The bacon was fried crispy before being added to the omelette, and I particularly enjoyed the Rosti-style hashbrown - crispy on the outside, buttery on the inside. The sourdough toast exceeded my expectations, although I would have preferred if it had been served at the same time as the omelette to ensure it remained crusty. The dessert of yoghurt with granola was a satisfying conclusion to the meal. I recommend making a reservation, especially on weekends.
It’s so hard to book for the place. Finally I was able to reserve an early morning spot. We only tried breakfast items. This is a refine American style cafe with typical omelette, hashbrowns, sausage, burgers, pasta and more. I love their eggs Benedict. I also like the clean and modern deco. It is definitely not your typical American diner comes with monster portion and excess buttery and bacon fat. However, the choice of their utensil is a big failure in my opinion. To accommodate the modern clean and smooth line, they picked a set of utensils with simple design but not very functional. The fork is so hard to hold and the weight is not balance back into your hand. Overall it is a nice experience. But if I miss American breakfast, I would always consider the Backpacker Cafe nearby first.
