Feels quite romantic with the outdoor terrace and lighting. It is fairly simple Italian food and wine, nothing special per se, but great as a local restaurant. Makes a change to the fancier places in Roma, Condesa Polanco. View all feedback.
What cloetmc doesn't like about Maria 138:
We decided to have dinner for a birthday at this restaurant which had been strongly recommended. Unfortunately they allowed a reservation at 19h. When we got there they told us they would not serve us any food, they would let us sit there until they closed. They blame it on us coming this late when we actually called and asked if the service would still be on until 20h at least, they said the service would remain unt... View all feedback.
The pizza and pasta are both some of the best Italian food I've ever had and the gelato is fantastic. My aunt and I stumbled upon this place because of a Google search of Italian restaurants and we ended up going back for two dinners, a lunch and a brunch. The salmon panini is a wonderful choice for brunch. The service is also outstanding. We appreciated the kindness and flexibility of the waitstaff. Prices are reasonable and I'd highly recommend this place to anyone who wants delicious Italian food in Mexico City.
Ambiance Maria Ciento38 has a very impressive restaurant indoor/outdoor space in a remodeled large older house. Our group of 6 family members was seated in a semi-private room that was perfect to give us a feeling of having a family dinner at home. Food Food was all very good, we had a variety of appetizers, salads, pastas, and desserts. Service Great service with friendly server that was attentive but not over bearing. I would definitely come back to this gem located in a neighborhood that I was not familiar with before.
This restaurant is located in Santa Maria La Ribera , a quaint neighborhood of CDMX. The setting of the restaurant is very nice within an old house with an ample terrace. Here you will find traditional Sicilian dishes. We ordered to start arancine filled with saffron rice, prosciutto and mozzarella. We also ordered a fantastic burrata with cherry tomatoes. As mains we had grilled (Sicilian sausage), spaghetti al pesto Siciliano and lasagna with melanzane (eggplant). Everything was very good. As desserts Sicilian ricotta tart and canollo (delicious). To drink we had Aperol Spritz. We ended with nice cappuccino. A very nice lunch.
If you fancy good food with a mediterranean touch in one of Mexico City's nicest and oldest neighborhood, go to Maria 138. You will get the feeling of an outside meal in a typical Mexico City backyard.Food is great, service is very good and prices are OK.The neighborhood is Santa María la Ribera. Don't miss the beautiful square.
The ambience is incomparable! Maria 138 takes advantage and brings back the early 20th Century feel of the Santa Maria La Ribera neighborhood. The outdoor seating is in a Vintage home patio. The plants around you, the quaint sensation of being in typical post Porfirio's house overtakes one. The concept belongs to an Italian family making their ancestor's recipes public. The result is a jovial, quaint, tasty, enchanting little jewel, hidden in the middle of resurrecting Santa Maria La Ribera neighborhood. This was once very respectful residential area of Post Revolutionary Mexico City. The food is based on Sicilian cuisine and it is really good. I loved their grilled vegetables accompanying their prime rib. They offer artisan beer and a variety of drinks. The patio has warmers and the staff if charismatic and very friendly!
