It was my first culinary experience in Mexico city and it didn't disappoint. however getting friendly with the staff since it was almost empty on Friday night was too much! there was too much maintenance done around us to fully enjoy it but food was great
Debated between hotel dining and yet another new taste experience for my last night in Mexico City. Chose Barro Negro based on the reviews plus proximity to my hotel. Pretty decor, well translated English menu and positively charming waiter. I started with a chorizo tlayuda which was really good but larger than expected so I ate 1 of 2. Followed by pork with almond mole. WOW! The pork was melting in my mouth and the almond mole was delicioso! Even the frijoles were better than I had ever tasted. The food is Oaxacan but that means nothing to me except that I passed on the crickets which are house specialties. The price was not cheap by Mexican standards but was reasonable and worth every peso.
Co-workers brought me here for lunch. Everything was delightfully delicious. I don't know the dishes, but the service was excellent. Horchata, the rice drink with carnation was refreshing. We left as a very happy crew.
Was looking for a restaurant that had guacamole. The concierge‘s from our hotel recommended Barro Negro. The food was good.Wguacamole ordered the guacamoleOrder of guacamole
