Nowadays, it seems they'v... read more I've been dining at Zel's for more than 30 years. I recall when their beef sandwiches were generously packed with meat and very large. Nowadays, it seems they've reduced the amount of beef by half, leaving more bread than filling. The flavor is still good, but they've also stopped including fries with the sandwiches and hot dogs. I understand it's family-owned, but it feels like someone in the family has made a misguided choice.

The beef itse... read more I appreciate the cook at Zel's because he actually prepares the beef exactly how you ask for it. However, the other staff often seem quite grumpy. The beef itself is basic and not very seasoned, so it tastes pretty plain, and the fries are just average. The prices feel way too high for what you get. Still, I keep coming back because it’s close to where I live. I’m planning to try the other beef place up the road soon to see if it's any better.
