For lunch in Ferragosto we join the family of our friends who live in the area and come to this restaurant for lunch which, as tradition of these places, is very abundant and genuine. The expectations are not disappointed: the dishes of the only appetizer do not count and are all excellent, a true round of recipes of the local tradition. They follow first and second abundant and tasty, all accompanied by wine from the splendid vineyard that surrounds the local. The backdrop is a beautiful panorama of Mediterranean vegetation that stretches between the sea, hills and villages. An authentic place of culinary tradition and Calabrian hospitality: it is worth looking for it.
The best of all times a kitchen from God an indimendable panorama. The nearby Caves are a tourist destination. You should stop two days.
I have no doubt: only in this restaurant last summer I tasted the true Calabrian cuisine. Unfortunately, restaurants often tend to offer an approved menu, departing from the territory, but this is not the case of the cherry garden. Here you are brought only typical products and territory such as pipi and potatoes, stuffed eggplants, strawjackets, meatballs, potato croquettes, roasted peppers, in short, so many of those dishes that we did not have the strength to taste the second. Last summer we were here twice: once in the evening with friends and once in lunch, where the owner only opened for us. The kitchen is housewife and excellent, the honest price. Mr. Panettieri, the owner, gave us a bottle of wine produced in his vineyards, in short, very kind. The location is wonderful, in the pristine green of the hills of Piacenza, between Cropalati and Paludi, where is the unspoilt Calabria. It is necessary to book as the food offered is only prepared with fresh products, really at zero kilometers. Unfortunately they divide us over a thousand kilometers, but surely we will return...I gave five palettes because it is not possible to give more. Really good.
