Aside from some odd flickering lights on the top floor, the entire experience was excellent, featuring delicious food, great service, and a warm, relaxing atmosphere. The batter on the fish was thin, crispy, and flavorful, the fish was cooked perfectly, and the triple-cooked chips and crushed peas were all delightful. While meal prices are on the higher side, the quality of service makes it easier to accept.

What User doesn't like about White Lion:
To be honest the food was delicious and we very much like what you’ve done with the pub. The staff were very pleasant it’s just that there was a long wait for the food: over half an hour till we got the starters and then another 40 minutes until the main course. It’s a long time for a one year old to be stuck in a high chair! Wouldn’t have mattered so much if we had been just adults. View all feedback.

We received a warm welcome upon arrival and were quickly seated at a table near a cozy log fire, which was perfect on a chilly night. The menu offered a wide variety of options, and our selections were bursting with flavor. Gemma's service was outstanding!
Very sad to recreate as soon as I looked at the new menu, it is obviously not as before, the 3 weeks closure was certainly from a background, the new menu is very “bread butter” a typical pub menu that they get anywhere. it's so disappointing that her talented young chef jack will soon end. so a new, easy to use menu order is the order of the day. jacks cook this pub really has put on the map for fabulous eating in the opposite place, somewhere that I am very pleased to recommend to my friends who have enjoyed all the kitchens living from the immediate area. it remains to see how the whitc lion will progress, the market in which they are going is very award-winning that many bums need to sit on. this is the problem with community pubs, to many häuptlingen and not enough indians in the kitchen, from people without experience in the trade. the management has made a serious mistake and would have invested more in building a large team in the kitchen, along with a strong management. there was a remarkable frequent change of the staff in front of the house, with some rally good people no longer there. Currently they still hold some nice workers, but have a very difficult time before them with this change of direction. I wish them of course good and will continue to visit the restaurant, but with a little contempt! I guess the beautiful weinlist will be next for the weinkeller, as the existing wein menu does not fit with the new menu, after jack ende goes februar, with such a pleasant weinlist, perhaps more for the more familiar. yes, I am ashamed to lose a food so horribly disappointing, so a wonderful well-built, skillfully cooked menu that was to be honest was too cheap for the quality of cooking. but this is a management problem controlled by many owners!
Booked a table for 5.45pm , when we arrived the lady at the bar was very welcoming and attentive. We was taken to our table and at that point it was clear that nobody had looked at our booking as we requested side by side , however we began to look at the menu and was told that there was no chips so we looked at the menu and ordered the fish each , for the lady to return and say that they had no fish ! We was left to look at the menu again and was forgotten about ! When a passer by realized we’d been waiting after an hour she said “ oh you’ve ordered haven’t you “ we said “ no” we decided to leave and drive into Nantwich and find somewhere else , not ideal a total disappointment . As we left we heard a waitress explaining they had ran out of most food . Can’t believe this pub could run out of chips very poor even admitted by the bar lady as we left . The pub may aswell not have been open . Won’t be back shame !
