The restaurant had a lovely owner who informed us that there was no set menu and that she would be preparing various dishes for €12 per person. We mentioned that we were vegan, but this was not a problem at all. She brought us 5 different plates, all of which were delicious. Although we were full, she kindly offered us two smoothies. What User doesn't like about Vegera:
I visited Zaros at the beginning of October, after the summer season had ended. When I dined at Vegera, the only vegan option available was stuffed tomatoes, peppers, and grape leaves. Having already eaten stuffed vegetables for three days while traveling through Crete, I decided to pass on the dish. The owner/cook kindly offered to prepare something special for me the following day, as she has more vegan/vegetarian... View all feedback.
We came in the hope of being able to eat something, but when we tell them we were vegans, they told us that they were busy and could not do anything for us so that we were looking for other restaurants in the area. Very disappointing. Updated from previous review on 2016-08-22
Such a beautiful owner. She told us that she has no menu and cooked various dishes for 12€ pP. We told her we were vegan, but it wasn't a problem at all. I was glad she knew the word. She brought us 5 different places and all were delicious. She couldn't bring us more and more food. As we said we were full, she came with two smoothies “You can’t eat anymore, but a drink should be okay.” After that we talked. A really nice woman who knows a lot about vegan cuisine. She also has a part in a German vegetarian cookbook. It is worth getting to Zaros only for this restaurant.
I came to Zaros during the first week of October, as the summer season ended. On the day I visited Vegera, the only vegan option were gems filled with tomatoes, peppers and wine leaves. I was eaten on the street for three days while I went through Crete, and while I love her, I had to make a pass. I explained this to the owner/cook who asked me what I wanted and offered to cook something special for me the next day. She said she had more vegan/veg options during the summer season. I couldn't take her on her offer to cook the next day something because I went out of town, but her warmth and friendly hospitality deserves special mention.
We were hoping to eat a variety of options at this restaurant, but when we mentioned that we were mostly vegan, they informed us they were too busy to accommodate us. We were left searching for other dining options. Very disappointing experience.

It is definitely worth visiting Zaros just for this restaurant.
