Desert Sage - Crestone
Desert Sage
Description
Desert Sage in Crestone delivers fresh, varied cuisine with generous portions and solid vegetarian, gluten-free and meat options—from Thai curries and stir-fries to pizzas, burgers and steakhouse-quality entrees. Service and atmosphere are warm and cozy, well suited to mountain getaways and private events, though occasional slow or inattentive service, higher prices and a dated orange-themed interior are noted. Expect big portions, friendly staff, and dependable flavors rather than fast casual dining.

Out of this world experience had at this SAGE this evening. thank you beyond words for all who held space for it. especially the cook, waitress, and that beautiful DISHMAN.
Desert Sage restaurant is a restraunt worthy of going to for multiple reasons. The first is that the only other selections of restaurants in Crestone are miniscule, and the only good one just sells pizza. The second is the food. The food at Desert Sage is varied in many ways, from culture to types of food in general. Based on the day of the week you come, the food can vary even more. I'm not sure on what days, but on some days, the Desert Sage offers on its menu, pizza. Their pizza is extremely good, and there are gluten free options too. Everything about their pizza is great, and I highly recommend it. They offer other things everyday on their menu, such as my personal favorite, Shapta. Now, I'm not sure what culture the chef is from, but their food is amazing. Although, the only problems I have with the Desert Sage are miniscule. The waiting time for food is half an hour or more, the prices are a bit high, and the interior design just simply isn't to my liking. The waiting time can be excused, but it's important to know that the Deset Sage is not a quick place to eat at. The prices can also be excused, the food is definitely worth the money. And I know it seems like I'm repeating myself, but the interior design can also be excused. The interior design reminds me of the 6th season of the hit sitcom, Friends. The colors are mainly orange, and while there are many windows, I don't think they work very well with the rest of the design. There are many plants of the desert, and all of them there give the aesthetic of one. Personally, I don't like eating in a place that reminds me of the most boring place I've ever been, but it's easily ignored. I would suggest this restaurant for business meetings and outings with friends, but definitely not for families with children that they care about.
Called that day to find out if we needed to make a reservation, as I told Donna, we are coming to our celebrate our anniversary. It was really cute, she had a nice little romantic table set up for us.Evan was our waiter and was delightful. He recommends dishes for us so that’s what I ordered, one chicken and one beef (Shapta). It was a lot of food, came with rice, we chose brown rice. Our vegetables were cooked perfect, the chicken was ok but the beef was way, way, over cooked, it made it very tough. Our dinner choices came with soup or salad. The back room was nicely decorated with lights and great plants. I WOULD go back to try different dishes.
