However, others found the food to be excellent and enjoyed their visit, especially appreciating the pet-friendly policy. The menu offered a variety of options at affordable prices. Some guests praised the efficient and friendly staff, while others felt let down by the lack of enthusiasm and interaction. Overall, the restaurant seems to have mixed reviews but could be worth a try for those looking for a pleasant meal in a cozy setting.
Unfortunately, the restaurant has declined in quality since the new management took over. We stopped by for Sunday lunch but were met with a cold reception despite having made a reservation. The duty manager was overhead complaining about other customers. On a positive note, the young waitress was polite and professional. The steak pie had fatty meat and was not worth the price. The roast potatoes were clearly frozen and store-bought. To our disappointment, no one asked us about our meal experience. Overall, there is a lot of room for improvement in every aspect.
We took our elderly relative for afternoon tea and had a wonderful experience. The afternoon tea was a unique twist on the traditional, featuring mini fish and chips, burgers, sausage rolls, spring rolls, meatballs, scones, and cakes. I opted for the vegetarian version and was not disappointed. The service was great, earning a perfect 5/5 rating from us. The only slight downside was that the afternoon tea was supposed to come with tea or coffee, but we were not offered any initially. When we requested coffee, we were told that only filter coffee was included, not Americano. Although we were charged for the drinks, we still enjoyed our visit and would return in the future.
We stayed at a nearby campsite and one of the highlights of our annual visit is dining at this restaurant. We went on a Saturday night and the service was okay, not as good as we were used to but understandable due to how busy it was. However, when we returned on Monday evening, the customer service was appalling. Our drinks and main course were delivered promptly, but after we finished our meal, our plates were cleared without any offer of a dessert menu. The waitress who took our order seemed preoccupied with another table, leaving us waiting for service. After ten minutes, we decided to leave as it seemed the restaurant had lost its direction. Unfortunately, we will not be returning for our planned visits this week.
After pitching up at Wharfedale caravanning and motor home site, we only had a short 5 minute stroll to the Gamekeepers inn, they welcomed our furbaby, could sit inside or in the cosy beer garden. We perused the menu and chose a seafood sharing platter , the menu was extensive and even the pickiest of eaters im sure would find a lovely meal here, all very affordably priced, service was excellent, the staff extremely hospitable and only too keen to meet the guests needs. The food was delicious, pleased we chose to check this establishment out, im sure we will return during the week whilst we are here
