Description

Nestled in a charming building, this restaurant shows potential but struggles with its food quality. While the atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with friendly staff and a cozy ambiance, many diners find the meals disappointing, often likening them to cheap frozen offerings. The standout drinks and dog-friendly environment attract positive attention, making it a decent spot for a casual visit. However, patrons are encouraged to seek dining experiences elsewhere to avoid feeling short-changed. Overall, with a few culinary improvements and a focus on menu quality, this establishment could transform into a beloved local gem.

The eating here is exceptional and the chef has always gone the extra mile to make sure our eating is enjoyed and needs time to have a chat. the place where it is located has an old world charm, but also modern, it has an open fire that is very welcoming on a winter day. the renter is very friendly and always gives a warm welcome. I will certainly return.

A warm welcome they could not ask. I came out of the rain after a long walk with an hour to go still before I reached my accommodation, I was picked up a table and served excellent steak and chips and a few good ale.

During our stay at Bowland Fell Caravan Park, we unfortunately had a negative dining experience at this restaurant. Despite having a group of 9 people, the bar manager was unhelpful and rude, which upset a family member. The food was of poor quality, with small portions suitable for toddlers and clearly microwaved. The bar staff, except for the manager, were friendly and accommodating. However, the waiting staff lacked interest in providing good service, showing no smiles or apologies for the subpar food. Additionally, there was a lack of cutlery on the tables or near the service station. Overall, our experience was disappointing and we would not recommend this restaurant.

My wife, dog, and I visited this restaurant and found it to be very welcoming for both dogs and wives. The food was delicious, especially the Calamari and Steak and Ale pie. We had the pleasure of getting to know the staff during subsequent visits and found them to be friendly and instrumental in creating a warm atmosphere. The Head Chef, Sita, was not only lovely and friendly but also a talented chef who came to chat with us at the end of her shift. Her coworker, Jack, was also a fantastic chef and very friendly. The Bar Manager, Steve, worked hard to ensure everything ran smoothly. The front of house staff, Caz, Holly, and Devon, all deserve a special mention for their polite and helpful service, especially during busy weekend shifts. They even took a liking to our black labrador, Ripley, giving her treats from the bar. Ripley enjoyed the experience so much that she started pulling us towards the pub during walks in the park. In conclusion, this recently renovated restaurant is run by genuinely friendly and courteous staff who truly enhance the atmosphere. We can't wait to return. - Gerry and Ann Hitchen....and Ripley.
