I love Applesbee's waitress, and waiters are friendly. The food is very good and I live 7 minutes away.
The waitress, who seemed quite unhappy, slammed our drinks on the table. I ordered the 2 for $25 deal, but she didn’t inform me that there would be an extra charge for a salad. This didn’t make sense because I only ordered a steak that was supposed to be 8 oz but was closer to 6 oz, and I was charged $41.37 for it. What’s odd is that she could have asked if I still wanted broccoli and mashed potatoes since she was charging for the additional salad. It’s not just about the money; I’ve been here before and both meals typically came with a salad. It was really the poor service that was the problem. I won’t be returning. I don’t know if the waitress was having an off day, but it’s frustrating to be charged for extras when I specifically asked for a salad instead of potatoes due to being diabetic and needing to avoid starches and sugars. It was only about 4 PM, not even dinner time, which made it even more confusing. Having worked in the service industry for years, I feel this place could use some training in basic customer service. The server didn’t even ask if we wanted any drinks or dessert. I usually tip based on service, and I’m generally easy-going, but this was a huge disappointment. I hope both customers and management become aware of these issues – it sounds like some better training is needed. Servers want tips, yet treat customers like an inconvenience. I will be calling to speak with a manager.
Everything felt the same as before... We stopped in for a quick drink after shopping at Garden City. The interior could really use a complete refresh!
