We had the pleasure of visiting this restaurant last Saturday night, We had the pork belly and soft shell crab for entrees followed by Rib eye steak ordered medium rare, Lamb rump and the duck confit, The steak came out cooked to perfection and was very tasty. We couldn’t help ourselves and ordered dessert too. Everything was delicious and plated so beautifully. The staff were very friendly and attentive, we will be... View all feedback.
What natasha b doesn't like about The Quarry:
Out of an entire group not one person left saying how great it was EXTREMELY disappointing. And very pricey for food less than pub quality. After leaving we learnt this place has new owners so the GOOD reviews must be from the previous owners/chef. View all feedback.
A red at the Quarry Restaurant is always good. The service is generally very good, friendly but efficient. Food is excellent, mildly inventive but not bleeding edge. The menu has suitably limited choices yet a good range so everyone should find dishes to their taste. One of the best features is the large bar area for a pre-dinner drink. The restaurant is spacious and as a result tables are well spaced. The wine list is mainly "local"wines, some of which are really quite good. A great choice for a friday or saturday evening meal.
We were asked if we could come early, which suited us, and our orders were placed before two big groups arrived. Meal service there-on brought courses on time as we required them. Service was friendly and helpful catering to our need along with the big crowd. Friendly Irish girl on a working trip of Australia found time to exchange comments on both Ireland and Aus. while still tending to others.Food was very good - we need to go back and sample more of the menu. Local wines were new to us and very drinkable.
Wonderful service, food and ambiance. . Staff/owners are very informative regarding the menu and wines. It is a restaurant for special occasions and for that something different when required.
We arrived un-booked with a group of five for lunch, but arrangements were rapidly made to accommodate us. We chose to sit indoors because it was starting to spit, and the AC made for comfortable temperatures on a warm summer's day.The waitress obviously had no idea about gluten-free options but a more mature lady soon emerged from the kitchen and it suddenly became easy.Service was prompt and efficient and every-one thoroughly enjoyed their meals. (I had prawns and chorizo, very tasty and the prawns tasted like coastal prawns, and the chef had made a gluten-free version for me.) Wine by the glass was a welcome option at lunch time.It is some considerable time since I last visited the Quarry, but my memories did not do it justice. The restaurant proceeded to rapidly fill as we enjoyed out meals.
This was our second visit to Cowra and were very excited about going back to The Quarry. 1st time around we loved it, food, service, atmosphere and told so many friends about this great find. But on our recent 2nd visit the food was barely average and some dishes quite poor. Definitely not restaurant quality. It was so disappointing. The staff and service can not be faulted but the food was so bad I don't think we will be back. We were there Nov 16 and then Jan 17, has the chef changed? Something has made them slip their game.
