I only later realised that I was walking into this badly rated restaurant, since there’s no indication of the name.. only ALOJAMENTO MONTANHA! Please avoid going here, we paid over 20€ per person with a very few starters and only 3 portions for 7 people. Needless to say we ended up snacking somewhere else to. I didn’t give 1* because the staff is kind, but the whole thing is a scheme for tourists.

We were put in a small room outside of the main hall and there were people next to us smoking inside the restaurant! It’s a very simple Portuguese food restaurant with absolutely ridiculous prices that you’ll never see as they read the menu out for you AND put and enormous portions amount of pretty small starters on your table on your arrival. Each starter (e.g. 5 deep fried tiny bits or 6 slices of chouriço or a slab of cheese) costs 8,5 eu! The main dishes are very poor and come from the kitchen within 5 minutes so obviously they didn’t cook your meal for YOU. The chicken was dry unseasoned and tasteless. The chips floating in oil and very tired. The mains are about 13 17 eu A complete rip off!

The baked sausages I had were the best I had in Portugal (live here for 2 years now), the cold meat was of outstanting quality, their requeijao with homemade doce de abobora is delicious and the service was very friendly. Didn't have any mains, but I plan to return.

Been here because there was no other options. When you are up the hill, at night and without food, this might be the only option available. Extremely expensive... read more Been here because there was no other options. When you are up the hill, at night and without food, this might be the only option available. Extremely expensive food, extremely expensive grocery store, and quality is also poor. Make sure to eat somewhere else.
