Cheylesmore House - Coventry
Cheylesmore House
Description
Cheylesmore House offers a sporadic dining experience that leans towards mediocrity. While some patrons commend it for its convenience and occasional enticing dish, like the beef in black bean sauce, others lament undercooked meals and subpar quality, particularly with the crispy aromatic duck. Despite a loyal customer base that has witnessed fluctuations in quality, recent reports indicate a resurgence in standards. Notably, the establishment's commitment to customer service shines through when issues arise, showcasing a willingness to rectify disappointing meals. Ultimately, Cheylesmore House serves as a quick option, but expectations should be tempered.
Feedback
We have used this Chinese for about 12 years even though we have never lived near Cheylesmore. We have lived in Henley Green, Tile Hill and now Allesley and always stayed loyal to Cheylesmore House, because it is good. last year it went through a bit of a bad spell, food was not up to the usual Standard, service was not as good as previous years, I believe it was because of the new system they introduced for home delivery. It became very very busy, probably too busy for them to handle. It meant when they were at their busiest they slightly took their eye off the important things like the quality of the food and the service, but I am glad to say it seems to be back to it's best now. Good food, pleasant friendly service fair price. Keep up the good work .
I have ordered from this restaurant several times and had a delivery tonight. The food is consistently good and I can always count on well-prepared and tasty dishes. Tonight, I ordered 1/4 duck, which we had never tried from here before. When it arrived, it was chopped up with crispy batter mixed in, which was not how it was described on the menu. We called and asked if this was a mistake, and they explained that's how they make it. However, they were willing to remake the dish as we had expected and delivered it to us promptly with a sincere apology. The dish turned out to be delicious. This is a great example of how businesses can earn repeat customers by providing excellent customer service in addition to good food.
I often visit after the pub and the noodles and crispy chicken always tastes good. I have a few scoops of curry sauce on my chips too and they taste champion.
My husband and I have just had the most disgusting and overpriced takeaway from this place (via Just Eat). My husband had sweet and sour chicken balls undercooked so not too bad, but the piece de resistance (and yes I am being ironic) was my crispy Aromatic duck; which wasn’t crispy or aromatic and in fact there was so little meat I’m not even sure it WAS duck. 5 pancakes (one of which was torn), a very small and fatty piece of duck and watered down plum sauce. Disgusting!
