Sooo happy with the free chips and salsa!! The food was amazing and the service was great, by far one of my favorite spots in Courtenay. Thank you for a good time! I had a sad vegetarian option which was horrid. The spices were not balanced with too much clove or allspice. Is always disappointing to spend the same money on vegetarian dishes when there is not the same effort to make it as tasty, special and scrumptious as the meat or fish dishes. The owners/employees here are good people and very friendly. However, Javier's has gone down hill over the last 2 years. Chef Javier was wonderful but he doesn't actually do much cooking anymore and it is now done by hired help in the back, and this has resulted in a noticeable decline in the quality of the food and the portions provided in recent years. Amazing! Ok so I can be very scathing with reviews... And this is no different! This place is amazing! Absolutely amazing! The food tastes spectacular and the presentation is fantastic! Try the starter menu! All of the starters as a main meal! You will not be disappointed! Margarita is well balanced, with just the right hint of lime and tequila! Fabulous staff! Do not be put off by the appearance outside, amazingly friendly and professional throughout!! Keep it up guys!! Definitely a gladiator thumbs up for this one!!!
