My husband and I used to go here for lunch all of the time when we lived in Courtenay. We returned recently for a visit and Billy D's was our first stop for lunch. We both ordered the beef dip and it didn't disappoint. Our margaritas weren't blended enough but that was minor. It's a nice little pub on downtown 5th St. View all feedback.
What Megane Bruen doesn't like about Billy D's Pub & Bistro:
We visited Billy D's for lunch on Market Day so it was quite busy although a few tables remained empty. Staff were hustling but 2 senior ladies seated in a dark corner are easily overlooked and I found the service to be poor. A buss boy passed by after we'd been waiting for our lunch for over 30 minutes and asked if we needed anything. We asked for refills to our water and he left and never returned. Finally lunch arrived but it was disappointingly average. The pub itself is long and narrow, overly noisy and very dark. Decor hints at old English style, stucco and beams, hunting horns etc. but it is a little tired. Very forgettable. I will not be in a hurry to return.

I really enjoy going to Billy D's. I've been there on multiple occasions and have always enjoyed the food. The service is usually fairly decent, but there's been an incident or two where I've considered not going back. Luckily 90% of the time its a great visit and I'm looking forward to the next time.
I stopped eating Ceasar salad in restaurants a long time ago. Watery dressing from a bottle, wilted lettuce, no flavour. you know the drill. But at Billy Ds, I asked for it as a side with my veggie burger (dry as they can be but very flavouful) and it was excellent! Thick dressing and full of garlic, real bacon on top, fresh lettuce very crisp. This chef knows their stuff! You must like garlic mind you. You must try it if you're a fan.
Nice rustic atmosphere - went in for a lunch during Market day’s - were served right way with wholesome meal and a glass of house wine. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone on 5th street just walking along checking out old fashion Courtenay.
