Sophie is cheerful, generous, hardworking and very good at what she does- provide delicious, abundant home cooked meals to the lucky people who find their way there. We were a group of eight who were very hungry after a long walk: Pate de Maison; Quiche de Courgettes (zucchini);Mushrooms Farci (stuffed); Vegetable Tempura (don't know what they are called), and a large green salad. Then for the main course Coq au vin... View all feedback.
Wow! Seriously wow! 6 starsI'm a foodie and I've been in France for the last several weeks.
Place is great- had to make reservation before hand and the only one available was 9:15. The appetizers are adorable (olives, tuna and bread). We get the
Phenomenal French food at very reasonable pricesThe place isn't fussy and has a classic bistro charm.

Then for the main course Coq au vin with curried cream sauce, and Blanquette de Veau. We all shared- family style and everything was very very good. For dessert- a wonderful selection: Tarte au citron (dead ringer for lemon merengue pie but better); Tiramisou; Mousse au Chocolate; A Pear Tarte. Then she brought out her homemade Marc, Limoncello, and Genever Liquors. We all took a nap when we got back!
We “ended” up in Coursegoules when driving along. Seeing “le bistrot de Sophie” was part of “Bistrot de pays”, I knew we could not be disappointed and we decided to have lunch there. We sat on the opposite side of the road to the restaurant, on the terrace overlooking the valley. The meal was absolutely delicious and everything was homemade. We had terrine and petits farcis, then lapin chasseur and roast beef.A very easy-going place too. For instance, they bring you the whole terrine in a dish and you help yourself. The quantities were generous and the waitress very pleasant. It was also cheap which did not spoil anything; 38.20 euros for the meals (which included the desserts), one coke and two coffees.I definitely recommend the place.
