This is a relaxing and friendly restaurant with high-quality food, reasonable prices, and attentive service. During our recent lunch visit, we tried and enjoyed several dishes including Chicken Nachos with sweet jalapeño jam and guacamole, Goat's Cheese Bruschetta, Cumberland Sausage with buttery mash and onion gravy, Three Bean Chili, and Sticky Toffee Pudding with thin but tasty toffee sauce and custard. While the custard was too thin for our liking, we still had a great experience and plan to return. Kudos to the talented chef and diligent staff.
We made a reservation for Christmas Day lunch for our family of 6 adults and one child at The Duke of York. This was our first time having Christmas Day lunch at a pub, so we were a bit nervous. However, we were pleasantly surprised by the excellent food, service, and friendly staff. Special thanks to Gavin, Imogen, and the rest of the team for making our Christmas holiday special.
My family and I had a Christmas Eve lunch at this restaurant. The cozy fire was burning and the staff were very friendly. The food was delicious and even though we all had at least two courses, the bill was surprisingly affordable. The staff even brought a bowl of soup with fresh bread for our young son while we waited for our main courses. It was a fantastic experience for all of us and we will definitely make it a family tradition.

We stopped for an unplanned lunch on the way to North Yorkshire… the outside looked appealing so a quick turn around back, we found a warm welcoming pub serving great food at a very reasonable price and with a smile! We ate from the light bites menu and by no means was this a light lunch… home made fishfinger sandwich with fries and salad! We enjoyed it so much we booked for Sunday lunch on the way home on the Sunday… it was delicious, lots of lovely veggies and plenty of roast meat (4 to choose from) and was remarkable value at £12:50. Again every one of the servers was warm and friendly including Imogen who checked in with us to see if we had had a good break. Highly recommend for great value, tasty pub food.
