Called in with parents for late lunch, dad was allowed to circumvent one way system due to mobility issues, tables were separated by screens so felt very safe many tables had been removed to create more space. Lots of hand sanitiser at various points. Condensed menu but still plenty of choice delicious as always, the coffee was gorgeous. Plenty of tables available both inside out but the external ones were proving to... View all feedback.
What Alison doesn't like about Tea Barn:
Disappointed, was expensive for what I had. Don't agree with having to pay £1 for a pot of hot water to go with a pot of tea, the vast majority of places it is complementary. I had scrambled eggs which were watery and hard. Lady taking orders seemed stressed and wrong order taken. Not sure I would return to the Tea Barn but love the Nursery? View all feedback.
At the arrival there were several parking places that led from the entrance, we found a space without problems. the caffe was pretty busy (we arrived at 1 o'clock), but we sat quickly the staff seemed very friendly. I could add that the personal all wearing masks there was a very good kovid policy on site. that eating was reasonable price both our meals were good quality. my only grip was the timing our eating arrived. my partner ordered quiche, I had cake. my cake came with the drinks (tee) my partner arrived well ten minutes later. I am not worried about the waiting period (as the caffe was quite busy), it is a good practice to bring both meals together! the selection of plants was decent I was quite trying to buy a small tree fern. Overall, I would definitely recommend a visit, remember that the exit is a way system when they leave the parking lot.
I love this place. plants are very cheap and multi purchases make them even cheaper. sometimes the plants look a little worse for wear, but this is reflected in the price. I have planted my whole garden for 3 years, with shrubs, grasses and border plants and a fabulous result. I bought daffs in early 2016 (very cheap), as they were finished and they come back every year. beautiful tea room worth a visit.
Great well maintained for plants, something for every gardener, excellent value and a large caffe serves freshly prepared sandwiches, jack kartoffels, homemade quiches pie very seductive cake baked. friendly service, nothing to fall down here! highly recommended
Very good plant varieties to exceptional preisen. is definitiw a kindergarten instead of garden center, as it did not interfere with all this extra. cafe looked good, although not in.
Since we moved back to Durham in Nov 2019 we have been regular weekly visitors, especially when lockdown occured in March 2020. They really came into their own, we loved our take outs, sitting in the car picnicking! We have bought loads of plants trees, especially bamboo! Conifers, Pansy's, Pavier, Privet, dianthus manure! They have an amazing display of plants, plus garden barrels. We return twice weekly despite the cafe now open we love our take outs in the car. Well done Pity Me Nursery for diversity in these difficult times.
