Oro At The Pumphouse - County Durham

The restaurant is set in a lovely position, the ambiance was buzzing and the food was great. A little expensive but nice for a special occasion.

The food was top class, the best Italian restaurant I have experienced. It was not like your usual run of the mill typical Italian restaurant, however it was not overpriced either, not cheap but most definitely worth the money for the quality of food. I will most certainly return.

We've been regular diners for a number of years and have yet to be disappointed or less than 100% pleased with the overall experience. The only complaint we've ever had is the lack of changes to the menu (which we've gone through a number of times) other than a couple of specials. A new menu is now coming and it's a great excuse for our next visit in a few weeks. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Oro.

ORO at the Pumphouse is hidden away in a quiet location, when we arrived we received a warm welcome. There is a good selection on the menu, but not too wide, the house wines are well chosen, the service was excellent; attentive but not intrusive, the food very good both in quality and quantity.

Friends arrived first and were scowled at when they informed the waitress the party may be one short (5 instead of six). Food heavy and rather bland. Main courses brought out in a disjointed fashion two roasts arriving without vegetables a good five minutes before the other three mains. Limoncello brought out as an apology despite waiting staff repeatedly being told that three of the five dining were driving. Gave up waiting for someone to take payment after 25 minutes and went to bar to pay. Restaurant could be so good venue could be amazing. Incredibly disappointed.
