What ShazzaHare dislikes about Clems Fish:
I picked my husband up from work and parked not far from chip shop. I could see people going in and out so asked hubby to get me some fish and chips..... wish I had not bothered. It was quite a small portion and expensive compared with my usual chip shop. There was absolutely no taste to the fish at all, even when covered in salt and vinegar. The batter was burnt... seems the oil was too hot. The chips had no flavour... View all feedback.

Always thought Clem's was good but on Friday night we got some and the chips were hard as if they had been second heated if I hadn't had a drink they would have gone back long time before I try again

We have eaten here for years and it has always been good. They recently took the special off which jsed to include fish and chips, tea or coffee, bread and butter, etc, so it is now more expensive to eat there. It doesn't seem as busy as it used to be.

We have regularly dined at Clem's restaurant and have never been disappointed. From 1PM you can get the senior citizen's special, which is a slightly smaller fillet of cod, chips, a salad garnish, bread and butter and a pot of tea. Every thing is freshly made and piping hot and there is ample to eat even for a healthy appetite, all for the cost of £5.95.

Clems fish and chips are well known in the County Durham area. They have a chain of shops and some have restaurants attached to them. I have eaten and had take aways from a few of them. They do give value for money, but sometimes when things are not too busy, their fish are not as freshly cooked as you would expect. The fish would be standing in the heating unit and the crispness of the batter can be a little soft. Best to choose a busy time, that way you can be assured to have a freshly fried fish that has not sat in grease/oil. The restaurant that I have visited have always been smartly table decorated and clean. In some, the service could be improved upon. Being a restaurant customer I would have thought that you would get prefential service over the chippy customer. This is not always so and waiting for your meal can be frustrating. All I can say is overall, it is a nice chippy,
