On my usual Christmas visit to County Durham and I was NOT going to let the plague stop me having one of my favourite treats. Fish and chips at Clems! All set up for “social whatsitting” and the two staff on duty were brilliant. What difficult times for them all. But the cod was cooked to order and chips perfect. On a wet miserable day, the sun (yet again) rose temporarily into the sky. Thank you for being there and... View all feedback.
What Travellersenroute doesn't like about Clem's:
I stopped by for some takeaway chips while shopping in Chester le Street. I was extremely hungry and was greeted by a friendly lady. However, I was disappointed to find that the chips were only lukewarm and made from low-quality potatoes with a lot of bad ones mixed in. I tried a few but ended up throwing the rest away. Unfortunately, I won't be returning to this restaurant. View all feedback.
Me and my mum and my 3rd nana Dawn went here, we ordered our food and i got some Fanta orange to drink and then our food came. I had cod bites and mam and Dawn had chips with gravy, and we enjoyed it. Will be coming back.
The fish and chips are excellent value but the seating is very basic and quite uncomfortable. Staff are quite friendly.
Went in for fish and chips, I decided to have a Mince Pie as not stakes pies. Seating is fixed like Morrisons cafe was 20 years ago. My dads fish was ok, But chips undercooked. My Pie cam with gravy in a cup, Chips were soggy and not cooked long enough. We were given the bill before the food arrived and when we said we pay by contactless. We though this is no good. Told it was the owners decision. We thought incredible in 2019. I wished we walked out. Once food was served no one asked if it was ok. Next time it is Morrisons cafe. Very poor overall
I have been a costumer at Clems since moving to Chester le street 3years ago I visited today and ask for small fish and chips as usual I payed the lady while another lady prepared them as she did i said after the scoop of chips that’s all I want and was told you have to have the portion you have paid for in case you complain later ! Eh what planet is she on won’t be back
