Nestled in Chester-le-Street, Clems Fish and Chip Restaurant boasts a mix of experiences. While some diners celebrate perfectly cooked cod and generously portioned meals enjoyed in a clean, welcoming atmosphere, others express disappointment over lukewarm fries and subpar portion sizes. The staff has garnered praise for their friendliness and service, though issues like cash-only transactions could deter future visits. With a charming upstairs dining area, Clems offers a potential escape from the rain, but consistency in quality and value remains a concern. Overall, this establishment presents a varied dining experience that may appeal to some, but not all.

Was Milezer51 at Clem's a mag?
On my usual Christmas visit to County Durham and I was NOT going to let the plague stop me having one of my favourite treats. Fish and chips at Clems! All set up for “social whatsitting” and the two staff on duty were brilliant. What difficult times for them all. But the cod was cooked to order and chips perfect. On a wet miserable day, the sun (yet again) rose temporarily into the sky. Thank you for being there and... View all feedback.

What Travellersenroute dislikes about Clem's:
I stopped by for some takeaway chips while shopping in Chester le Street. I was extremely hungry and was greeted by a friendly lady. However, I was disappointed to find that the chips were only lukewarm and made from low-quality potatoes with a lot of bad ones mixed in. I tried a few but ended up throwing the rest away. Unfortunately, I won't be returning to this restaurant. View all feedback.

The fish and chips are excellent value but the seating is very basic and quite uncomfortable. Staff are quite friendly.

Called today for two cod and chips. Found price to be really steep at £14 for two takeaway. Despite been freshly cooked to order they were only just warm when we got home after five minutes. Have only used this takeaway once before some years ago and will not be back at these prices. Much better fish and chip takeaways around.

For the price the fish and chips are average. When you see the fish that you actually get there are places that will serve a much bigger portion of fish for the price. I find that their prices are a little steep.

Still trying to find a fish and chip shop who can actually make a good chip, the potatoes are rubbish end up with a few average sized chips and the rest are to throw away or they are soggy. When I was a kid my mother would make proper chips which tasted like proper chips chunky crispy actually had a taste,so unfortunately I’m still looking. The fish was fine but Why is it so hard to get the chips a decent size and cooked properly.
