We came in on a Friday with a large group and the staff handled us very well. They got to order done in a timely manner. The food came out in a timely manner. I had the club sandwich and it was very good. I did not get a chance to question everyone in our group but those that I did said that their food was great. Want to give a big shout out and to thank you for the staff for taking care of us. We will be back. View all feedback.
What Meli Killian doesn't like about Hays House 1857 Tavern:
Went for a Friday night dinner. Food was fine, two ordered the Prime Rib, two others ordered steaks, two other various dishes. Nothing was spectacular but the fried pickles were very good. Not busy at all and super slow, possibly understaffed, service. The interior of the resturante is really charming, especially the upstairs restrooms. View all feedback.

The owner is rude, he yells at the Latino employees he has in the kitchen and he pays very poorly, the dishwasher earns more than the cooks, he makes them work 13 hours and you can't even sit down to eat in peace, the owner yells at them and they Take advantage of immigration, many positive comments about the food and service, but behind it no one knows the true story
I wound not recommend the chicken fried steak or the chicken fried chicken. It wasn't fried long enough and tasted like uncooked flour and grease. I figure we just made a $50 donation to the Historic Hays House. Very disappointing to say the least, especially since it was a road trip for us! : Parking: Street Parking
