Was Jeanne B at Le Skipper a mag?
We arrived at 10:00, which was unfortunately too late for breakfast and too early for lunch, but we were quite hungry. Luckily, the chef kindly prepared our lunch early, and it was fantastic! We enjoyed both the chicken and the beef burger. It was exactly what we needed after a long flight and drive! View all feedback.
Surf, sand and super tasty seafood is how I would describe my experience at Le Skipper. The ambience is very pleasant service was impeccable thanks to Gerald, Kesseven and Akshay who catered to our somewhat out of the menu gastronomic demands. Akshay’s cooking skills with the Mauritian seafood meal are a super plus. I urge everyone to try them. Sadly I was too overwhelmed by the aroma and gulped down the food too quick to click any pictures, sorry. Salut Le Skipper !
We went for the Wednesday BBQ and music evening. The staff were really friendly and welcoming. They were all very kind with our 18 month old son. The starters were excellent interesting choices including smoked marlin and tuna sushi. The main course and dessert were nice too, prawns from the bbq and a selection of fish and meat. The music was excellent and really made for a nice atmosphere.
Next door to hotel Voile Bleue is restaurant Le Skipper. Here we had breakfast and dinner (and cocktails) every day with a magnificent view. If you are in the restaurant and go downstairs you come to a covered terrace where you sit directly by the sea. Delicious! The staff at Le Skipper, the service, but also the cooks are incredibly friendly and do everything to make you feel at ease. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are very well taken care of and delicious. Don't hesitate to go here, make a reservation right away. We will definitely come back.
We had the BBQ buffet which comprised mainly (dry) fish, chicken pieces, processed chicken sausages (yes, the kind you buy in the frozen food aisle in the grocery store), a vegetable bake and rice. The desert was green jelly and fried banana. If you've been on any of the catamaran cruises on the island you've had a very similar meal (sans desert), but at Rs3000 for two people (food only) this did not compare well with meals I had at other upmarket restaurants in Grand Baie. The selection was not very wide and I noticed another patron express dissatisfaction with the available options. I found the chicken and rice bland and had to use the lentil soup to dress it up with. The entertainment was excellent. A two piece (guitar and keyboard) band covering well known artists, including songs from Blur and Coldplay, was accompanied by two ladies dressed in colourful traditional dresses inviting diners to dance with them. The pina colada was well mixed.
Great tuna steak but look at that sauce! It looks nasty, taste horrible. What a shame.
