We tried to have a sit down lunch at two cafes as we were on a coach tour and needed a pit stop. Unfortunately, several were shut on Tuesday and Wednesday. So we stopped in at the Stag Hotel’s pub. The waitress was very efficient and ensured we were in and out in an hour. The food was very good and they have decent veg. Options. They have a HUGE selection of wines and spirits. The decor is upmarket yet arty. A very g... View all feedback.
What Tom FF UK doesn't like about The Stow Lodge:
I’d you think the endless coffee shops in Stow are over priced then visit this place. You can be ripped off equally as well by someone without a topknot and ankle-swingers, but mimicking Basil Fawlty’s style instead. 7.50 for an orange juice and lemonade. Yes that is not a typo! Also had a ploughmans. All the lovely fresh produce available in the Cotswolds and they clearly just shop at the local supermarket and cobbl... View all feedback.
Most of the reviews on this site talk about the old fashioned service they received at the Stow Lodge Hotel and they're absolutely right! The bar restaurant is very popular and we were so fortunate to find a table that hadn't been reserved. The menu was first rate steak and ale pie, duck, lamb, salmon a great selection, beautifully prepared and served with a smile. It's not often that table service comes with bar meals but it is certainly a speciality of the house here. It meant so much to them that we expressed our genuine pleasure over the quality of the fayre on offer. We were also invited to relax and take coffee in the next door lounge. Great value for money and never at any time did we feel rushed on what was a particularly busy day .
We spent a great weekend here. The hotel is so different from impersonal chain hotels. It’s great to know that places like this still exist. The furnishings are a little dated, but in a nice way and it is very clean. Good breakfast with lots of options between two people we had orange juice, cranberry juice, prunes, freshly segmented grapefruit half, poached eggs, full English fry up, toast, marmalade, tea, coffee. The evening dinner menu changes daily. Main courses are presented with nice lidded tureens of vegetables. The staff are friendly and they go out of their way to ensure guests are happy.
This is a small charming family run business that takes care of you I was by myself, disabled and stopped during international connections at Heathrow airport. Old fashioned, but appropriate , renovated bathrooms, excellent service. I hosted a dinner for my family from Dorset and no-one was disappointed! Good cooked food, served in british style. Lottie, Debbie, barmen Jack and Antony and all the staff made us feel at home. Step out into Stow square, to shop or sit in the garden to daydream! Many Cotswold villages close by in a cab or bus service in the square. An Hour and a half to Heathrow airport. Found myself a winner
We enjoyed a delicious lunch here. The food was tasty and the service was excellent even though it was quite busy.
No need for a detailed review here everything was right about our dinner time visit. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the food was very good indeed I particularly enjoyed my cashew and lemon bake). Five stars for everything, and well deserved
