My experience at this restaurant was disappointing. The tortilla chips were overly hard, and the complimentary "salsa" tasted more like generic taco sauce. The prices were steep, and the staff's attitude was lukewarm—not rude, but also not particularly friendly. Given concerns about possible cross-contamination with pork and unclean shellfish, I won't be returning. While I understand that these ingredients may be essential for some diets, they aren't part of a healthy lifestyle for me, especially in light of my dietary beliefs. On a positive note, I did enjoy the enchiladas, rice, and beans. Additionally, the dining atmosphere was a bit more pleasant than usual. However, since chips and salsa are a crucial aspect of my dining experience, I have to rate this restaurant a generous 2 out of 10. If you’re looking for better options, I recommend Gloria's or El Toro Bravo just two streets down on 19th and Placentia, or Don Ramon's on Warner in Huntington Beach. Sincerely, Shoe
Celebrating 50 years and still going strong, this is my favorite Mexican restaurant in the world. There's nothing unusual on the menu—no trendy corn mushroom dishes or oddities here. Just excellent, homestyle, old-school Mexican cuisine that I absolutely love. The cocktails are top-notch too; these folks really know how to mix a drink. Truly the best!
Delicious Mexican food! There were some stylish choices on the menu, and our server was fantastic. He took excellent care of us, seemed genuinely happy to be there, and didn’t rush us out. We finally decided to try the HUGE and DELICIOUS dishes, which left us with leftovers. I had the steak salad, and it was awesome. I used the leftover steak to make a steak and eggs breakfast the next day. Totally worth it!
Friendly service but food took a little while to come out probably because of Cinco de Mayo. Good food!
