Hidden down one of Cortona’s many little streets is this jewel of a restaurant rightly rated as the best restaurant in Cortona, and over the last 10 years of visits, I’ve eaten at many. Each dish is meticulously prepared with an obvious passion for both food and cooking. In the words of the Chef proprietor, Michella Gallerano, “ for me, preparing food is serious play a joy “. The whole experience, from, on this occasion making our reservation through Messenger , to being greeted , served the most amazing dishes from starters to dessert was amazing , personal and unique. Although my wife enjoys a glass of wine or bubbly, I do not drink alcohol. When asked, there was no zero alcohol beer, which is fine. However, the very personable waiter , popped around the corner and found some. Awesome. A tremendous experience, wonderful food and super personable people. Cannot recommend this restaurant enough.

A very small restaurant, but with a big heart fir the local gastronomy. Very, very friendly welcome, nice interior, fine music and on top of all a splendid kitchen. Nice dishes, well dressed and very tasteful. A great experience and a great evening!

We made a last minute reservation and th... read more Sartù is a hidden gem in Cortona that is located going halfway down a set of stairs just past the pharmacy on the left. We made a last minute reservation and the staff was extremely accommodating. Lorenzo was our server and host and he was extremely kind and knowledgeable. He spoke some English and provided detailed explanations on the dishes. He also made great recommendations on wine to pair with the food. The atmosphere of the restaurant felt like having an intimate dinner in a Tuscan villa as it only had 18 seats (2 wonderful tables outside). We ordered an assortment of food to try as much as possible on the menu. We tried the ravioli, gnocchi, pork, braised wild boar, and finished with a deconstructed cannoli that was prepared to perfection. The chef here is from Naples and also makes a special crème brûlée with cinnamon. We wanted to order this as well but were too full! If you are visiting Cortona, Sartù should be at the top of your list for dinner. Thank you Lorenzo and Sartù for a wonderful experience. We will see you again soon!
