Pizzeria Castel Girardi - CORTONA

A short drive out of Cortona on the road to Portole is this restaurant which seems uninviting from the road but is really special. Our servers were a good team, right there when needed despite a busy night. Our dishes included gnocchi bruni ma buoni, coniglio, and capriolo; there's nothing like a meal of bunny and goat to satisfy you. Portions were plentiful and the taste great. Complimentary Moscato was offered. A dessert of pannacotta and pear was fabulous. A Montalcino wine plus coffee, and the usual acqua frizzante, were our beverages. Total 72 euro, a great price compared to I Grifi just down the road.

Hadn't booked a table but they fitted us in. We only ordered pizza, but all were well cooked and tasty. Staff spoke good English. Food was well cooked and tasty. On the desserts they didn't have strawberries yet oddly the fruit salad came with slices of strawberry on top...... That said would eat there again.

Excellent pizzeria, stunning views day and night. Great service. The atomic pizza is my recommendation

We went there, and wanted to leave again, 'cause it was that full. But a stuff member convinced us to stay. So we sat inside the Restaurant (either we actually wanted to sit outside but that was okay and ordered 4 Pizzas. Two of them came 1 our after we ordered it the third another 15 minutes later and the fourth came one hole our after the first two came (I mean that was very disappointing, 'cause we of course wanted to eat together and by the way we ordered a water that the stuff member forgot. After we told him that we found it pretty rude to wait that long for the pizza and that he forgot the water as well he promised to bring the water directly...we never got it And we recognised a similar thing at the table next to us. So if you want to eat there (we won 't do it again I would recommend you to sit outside cause inside of the Restaurant the service was absolutely terrible. Hope I was helpful

Been visiting here for 11 years when we visit for a summer break seen it grow from. Plastic tables outside to the wonderful place it is now. They allways great us as old freinds.best in cortona area.
