Mel's Hometown - Corry
Mel's Hometown
Description
Perkins in Corry, PA delivers dependable, affordable comfort food with attentive, friendly service, a clean classic-diner interior, and generous portions. Regular promotions and emailed coupons add value, and management handles service issues professionally. The kitchen consistently produces well‑prepared breakfasts and entrees that keep locals and visitors returning. The main drawback is an inconsistent takeout policy — phone and website messaging conflict and to‑go orders can be refused — and occasional use of plastic containers for in‑house pie.

There seems to be a lot of confusion regarding takeout options. The website indicates that you can order takeout, but when I called, I was told they don’t offer that and that I need to come in to eat. Please update your website! The food was great during our last visit, but since we just had a baby, dining in is challenging for us, which is why the takeout option would be really helpful.
I've had to lower my rating, which I really regret. The food and in-house dining service are fantastic. However, they need to clarify their takeout policy. It's either an option or it isn't, and for us, dining in isn't always feasible. We've called on our way to Corry and placed takeout orders at least half a dozen times, and then one day, when we were all ready and on our way, the person on the phone chuckled and informed us that takeout was not available that day. We live too far away to call ahead, as the food would arrive cold. If they’re busy, they should just extend the wait time for the food instead.
The food is good and the servers are friendly but it is ridiculous that when I call to order to go you tell me you don't have the staff to cook it but if I were to come in to an open table which you have available at this moment I would be able to sit and order. I guess you don't want my money now or ever in the future. The food is good but not good enough for when I'm constantly told he can't take my to go order over the phone.
