We liked the ambience, the food, the wine and the professional maitre d with his s... read more We dined here the first night of our two night stay at the Hotel San Claudio. We liked the ambience, the food, the wine and the professional maitre d with his sense of humour, knowledge and superb timing. On the other hand, the young waitress needs more practice opening wine bottles with corks, however, she was very happy after we left a generous tip! We had the traditional Fritto Misto alla Marchigiana (deep fried stuffed olives, zucchini batons and deep fried custard! all excellent), local small goods, a large dish of taglierini with hare ragu, oven baked pork shin and shared dessert. We enjoyed all the dishes, and the bill was very reasonable. They start cooking early here as the next morning we could smell the delicious aromas from the kitchen, as it was just below our bedroom window. Hope to return on our next visit to Macerata.
