Surprising Delicious. The owner, Robert, has an amazing memory of his customers, even if they only come once a year. Get the Brisket Taquitos best things ever. And not be deceived by the hole in the wall appearance / grunge factor. View all feedback.

Excellent! Eat it first. The place is a little rough, but good food can be found everywhere. I have two Brisket Tacos and they were very good. I also have a bean egg and cheese taco and it's the best I ever had. It's a man inside and it's pretty impressive that he can pull it out. I will come back
Good. Tacos are good here. I ate here when I was in hs; read a SK book. I left and forgot this place. I went back recently and the cook (who I suspect the owner) asked me how was the book. 12 years later.
I agree with the other review. I have also been comin to el mesquite for years, ever since I was little and what keeps me comin back are the breakfast tacos!! It's down the street from my parents house, so convenient to call our order ahead and pick up breakfast tacos anytime of day! The lunch menu is also great, I feel like I've grown up with this place the owner has known me since I was a little girl..try it you won't be dissapointed and don't let the exterior fool you most great restaurants aren't anything special from the outside or even the inside..let the food be the judge
Best taquitos. This hole in the wall has been a staple favorite for literally decades. They have the *best* breakfast taquitos in South Texas, and thereby the best in the world. I like potato, egg, bacon cheese, and brisket, potato egg. I will occassionaly try a plate (breakfast or texmex or BBQ) and they are good, but the taquitos keep me coming back.
