Le Voyage - Coron
Le Voyage
Description
Nestled a bit further from Coron town, La Voyage offers an array of vegetarian and vegan options, making it a must-visit despite occasional ingredient shortages. Diners can enjoy a vibrant and inviting atmosphere, with highlights including flavorful dishes like tofu sisig and generous portions of vegetable curry. However, menu inconsistencies and some less satisfactory items, such as overly thick pancakes and non-vegan ingredients in desserts, detract from the experience. With friendly service and reasonable prices, La Voyage remains a cherished stop for food lovers seeking hearty, plant-based meals in a beautiful setting.

I believe this restaurant focuses more on marketing and having a Western aesthetic rather than offering well-thought-out vegan food at reasonable prices. We tried the tofu sisig and tofu steak with mushrooms. The tofu sisig lacked enough vegetables and came with a side of hummus, which we felt didn't complement the dish well (even though we love hummus). The tofu steak was more like a soft patty and the sauce was average. However, the disappointment came with the vegan crepe. The dough was too thick and soft, resembling more of a pancake with an average taste. Additionally, there was a buttery sauce inside despite being labeled as vegan, and the waitress was aware of my vegan dietary restrictions. After this experience, I checked the comments on Happy Cow and it seems that this issue occurs with more dishes at this restaurant.
We tried two tofu dishes at this restaurant. They were delicious, but we felt that they could have used more vegetables.
I ordered the vegan brownie and made sure it was actually vegan, which they confirmed. However, when it arrived, it was topped with cream and chocolate syrup. Upon inquiring, I was told that the cream was not vegan. This is a common occurrence in the Philippines, but still disappointing. The prices are also quite high, with 220 pesos for a brownie being more in line with UK prices. You could get a full dinner elsewhere in the Philippines for the same cost.
Didn’t love the food here (especially the coconut tofu dish) but nice place to chill and has a good range of vegan options available. Updated from previous review on 2024-01-30
