I ate here once while I was staying here. I chose the goats cheese and caramelised red onion tartlet with chips and salad. This was tasty with plenty of chips. My work colleague who stays here regularly loves the food here. All in all good value home cooked food. View all feedback.
What Sharon E doesn't like about The Whitehouse Inn:
The rooms are nice at this hotel, but it lacks staff presence and maintenance. Check-in is non-existent, with keys left on a table and no one around until breakfast time. Housekeeping is not done, and guests must request clean towels and toiletries from breakfast staff. The outside of the hotel is unkempt, and the website's 4-star rating is misleading. We made a pit stop on our way back from Penzance. It felt very secure, as they are very strict about following regulations. The coffee and homemade cakes were excellent.
This place is nothing like advertised and certainly not a 4 star. It’s an absolute mess, in need of a lot of maintenance, a good clean and staff. The main exterior door was permanently wedged open. Reception was a tip boxes of discarded paperwork in a corner, a glass of black currant was on the filing cabinet when we arrived, and still there 5 days later. No one was on reception in the day or night. It was in serious need of a good clean. Keys were left in an envelope on a table. One guest complained at breakfast that the bin in her room had not been emptied from the previous guest. Our shower head couldn’t be adjusted. The shower curtain was dirty and needed replacing. Unable to purchase from the vending machine in the main reception area, as it was completely empty. Their Facebook page says bar is open. It isn’t. Restaurant also closed and only served breakfast to guests between 8-9. Only staff seen were two at breakfast. None at any other time. The exterior looks like a building site. A skip full of rubbish. Another two large bins also overflowing with rubbish. Hardly any exterior lighting at night. Windows to the main restaurant building broken and wedged open. Broken garden furniture. No maintenance and certainly no pretty flower tubs as shown on their website.

Staff very friendly and helpful. Had the carvery lunch. Very nice but nothing exceptional. Had a lot better. Sadly on entering the establishment we had to walk past eight to ten smokers before entering the bar area. This is not what people want to pass by.
