Went twice during a week’s stay in a nearby village. We chose to order small plates (there are mains and pizzas too). We had fabulous mezzo platter, leek and Stilton croquettes and monkfish scampi. Lovely big outside space that’s partially covered and equally beautiful pub inside. We had dinner here early on a Monday night in March. Booked a table. Had deep fried seafood, pulled beef brisket burger and a kid's sausage and chips followed by chocolate pudding and rhubarb trifle. It was all very good. The service was very slow. It took about half an hour for the desserts to arrive and almost as long to get the bill. Enjoyed an incredible Sunday roast here on Easter Sunday! Staff were extremely friendly and accommodating considering it was so busy. Food was very high quality and super tasty, I don't think there was a single bit of food left on any of our plates.
The food was perhaps about £4 more than I expected in a pub, but have to say my veggie food was waaay more interesting and tasty than it sounded in the menu and generously portioned too! Yet it felt like a proper, unpretentious pub with friendly, but not over the top service, locals and dogs.
Absolutely brilliant roast, super tasty meat and veggies options.
On Saturday night, I came to this restaurant with my partner and his son. We were visiting his son, who lives nearby. The menu was impressive, offering a variety of dishes. My partner ordered tempura prawns and a cauliflower dish, while his son had prawns and a pulled pork burger. I couldn't decide on just one dish, so I ordered three small plates - leek and blue cheese croquettes, falafel, and a broccoli dish. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented. The service was excellent and the staff were very friendly. My partner also enjoyed his cocktail. I would definitely come back here again when I'm in the area.
Last night, we dined at Mexico Inn and had a fantastic experience. The waitress was friendly and welcoming, creating a comfortable atmosphere in the pub. The food was delicious! We also stayed in the newly decorated Airbnb apartment above the pub, which we highly recommend. Overall, we had a great time and would recommend both the pub and Airbnb.
